World Animal Day 2020 is going digital

May is already upon us in what has been a tumultuous year so far. Here at Naturewatch Foundation, our sympathies go out to all those who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ve all been affected, but it’s been wonderful to see the efforts of those who have gone out of their way to look out for the plight of humans and animals at this time.

We’re trying to continue on our mission as normally as possible, with some interesting lessons learned in remote working and swift technical upgrades! On that note, for World Animal Day this year, taking place on and around 4 October, we’ll be focusing on methods of online participation.

Over our lifetime, we’ve seen the rise of digital mediums to bring people together around the world and share our passion for animal welfare. World Animal Day 2019 was a huge success and saw millions of people take part online with some truly inspiring contributions from individuals and organisations alike.

Of particular note were online presentations held by Big Cat Rescue from Florida and Otara Foundation’s ‘STOLEN’ campaign.

This year we want to build on last year by leveraging the world of digital tools even further. Head over to the new, digital participation page on the World Animal Day website to get some more inspiration for how you can take part this year.

If you have any ideas or examples of digital activities you’d like to share, then please let us know by sending an email to info@worldanimalday.org.uk. All ideas welcome!
