Lend your voice to the voiceless on World Animal Day October 4

As life as we know it continues to change rapidly around us, one thing rings truer than ever. We need to work together if we are to achieve positive change in the world and help those who need it most.

Despite the limiting circumstances we now find ourselves in, the surge in charitable pursuits throughout this time has been astonishing.

From birthday fundraisers to charity runs, individuals from across the globe have been using their free time to come up with all sorts of inventive ways to raise money for important causes. They are proving that it is still very much possible to play your part whatever the situation.

With World Animal Day on the horizon, why not put your mind to the test and kick-start a unique way of raising awareness for the big event on October 4? With thousands of people taking part last year, we believe that this year can be better than ever.

Whether you're going at it alone or represent an entire workforce or community group, there are opportunities for anyone and everyone to get involved.

Nobody knows how the world will look come October, but we can't let that stop us. Many of our ideas can be adapted to create at-home and socially distanced friendly alternatives.

If you love animals, now is your time to shine. Click here for heaps of inspiration on what you can do to help or keep on reading for some great ideas on what you could be doing right NOW.

Fundraising walk

An oldie but a goldie. Whether you're staying at home or not, there are many ways you can adapt this classic challenge to suit you. You could run 100 miles in a month, walk 100 laps of your garden, or even climb a mountain from your staircase - make it your own!

Adopt an animal

Adopting an animal is a perfect way to lend your support to World Animal Day; it's something you can do from anywhere at any time. Not only are you giving this animal a second chance at life or helping to protect its habitat, but you'll most likely also receive regular updates from your new furry friend. What could be better?

Quiz night

Hosting quiz nights is a foolproof way of raising awareness for a particular event or idea with your family and friends. Quizzes are also incredibly versatile as they can be held either physically or online over Zoom or FaceTime. When planning your quiz for World Animal Day, you could dedicate one or more of the rounds to animal-based questions. You and your friends could even dress up in animal costumes if you're feeling brave enough.

Social media chain

We've ALL seen those social media posts where someone posts a photo of their dog, asking for their followers to reply to the post with photos of their dogs as well, thus creating a long thread of poochie pictures for all to enjoy. Why not start a chain in recognition of World Animal Day by posting a picture of your pet, alongside the #worldanimalday hashtag or logo and encourage your friends to add pictures of their furry friends in the comments too!

Wildlife-friendly corner

If you have a garden, then this is a great way to create a habitat for all kinds of animals to thrive in for this year's World Animal Day. Hedgehogs, birds, frogs and honeybees are just some of the creatures you could craft a home for. And who wouldn't want a garden bursting with life?

Volunteer

Animal welfare charities are always looking for volunteers, and there's no better time to offer your services than in the lead up to World Animal Day. If they aren't accepting physical assistance, there are still plenty of ways you can help online. Just reach out to a charity of your choice, and find out what you can do.

It really is that easy! Wherever you are, and whoever you are, YOU can make a difference this World Animal Day.

So let's start now.
