Our hard-working team was busy in 2025, driven by a shared passion to improve the lives of animals. Every campaign is carefully planned and budgeted, and none of our work would be possible without our supporters. We hope you feel proud of what we’ve achieved together.
Influencing change
This year, we refreshed our Annual Review to make it easier to read, highlighting our most impactful work. We have influenced parliamentary debate and policy, published in-depth research on issues ranging from wildlife crime policing to male breeding dogs, and ensured our voice has been widely heard. We welcomed the government’s new animal welfare strategy.
Supporting animals on the front line
A key highlight is our Pet Rescue Grant, which complements our lobbying by directly supporting frontline charities. Alongside this, our investigations into animal crime and close work with law enforcement remain a challenging but essential part of what we do. Our ‘Tail of Two Dogs’ video on the use of beagles in science reached millions online.

We would also like to thank our incredible volunteers who generously share their skills in areas such as design, filming, writing, fundraising, and event organisation. Their dedication, along with that of our trustees, patrons, and supporters, helps us achieve so much with a small staff team.
Stronger through partnership
Partnerships continue to strengthen our impact, from collaborating with animal shelters, lawyers, vets, and campaigners to our international work in Eastern Europe and coordinating World Animal Day each October.
Recognising compassion and commitment
We also launched a new initiative in 2025 – the Naturewatch Foundation Challenge Coin – to pay tribute to individuals who go above and beyond in caring for animals.
