Our petitions
We work hard to influence the actions, policies and decisions of government officials, legislators, businesses and other organisations to advance animal welfare, both in the UK and around the world.
There are several ways to do it – but we find the most effective route is to contact people in positions, via our petitions, to make much-needed changes.

Take part in a way that works for you, whether volunteering, fundraising or donating items, and help create a kinder future for animals.
Make your voice heard – contacting companies
The word ‘lobbying’ can sound a bit scary, but it’s really just contacting people with the power to make decisions, whether that’s in government or at the head of a company.
It’s about addressing them directly and asking them to take a course of action that makes life easier for animals. You can use the email template below…
Dear [name, Sir/Madam etc.]
What prompted you to write?
Let them know why you’re contacting them – was it in response to a documentary, public statement, boycott or news article? It’ll help to make your email relevant to current news.
Who/what is this issue affecting and what are the consequences?
Try to keep it concise. This person/organisation will probably read a lot of emails, so you need to make sure they’ll have time to read it.
Back up your argument with some facts and figures.
It’s hard to argue with evidence, as long as you can back it up.
Tell them what you want them to do.
For example, if they’re an MP, you might want them to state their official position, influence a Minister or grant you a meeting to discuss the issues. If it’s a company, you may want them to discontinue an unethical product line or ingredient, remove an individual or partner company with unethical practices or remove suppliers with unethical ties.
Talk about the positive outcomes of combatting this issue. Who will it impact and how?
Thank them for their time and, if necessary, provide further contact details.
Kind regards,
[Your name and, if appropriate, your title and organisation]
