What we're doing

We encourage animal welfare organisations, community groups, businesses, and individuals across the world to hold events to showcase their love for animals in celebration of World Animal Day.

The mission here at World Animal Day HQ is a significant one: to raise the status of animals and to improve welfare standards around the world..

With the support of our ever-growing network of ambassadors, we encourage animal welfare organisations, community groups, businesses, and individuals across the world to hold events to showcase their love for animals in celebration of World Animal Day. Each year, we also offer a competitive World Animal Day grant to projects led by our wonderful ambassadors around the world. Read more about the grant here.

Donate a Dinner

Now in its third year, our Donate a Dinner initiative invites animal lovers to support their local rescue or rehoming centre by donating a meal to an animal in need.

Helping animals when they need us most

Rescue and rehoming centres across the UK are under growing pressure, with rising costs and more animals needing their help. Donating a dinner is a simple but powerful way to show kindness. Every meal helps fill a hungry tummy and supports the dedicated people who care for animals every day.

Our 2026 charity partner

We’re proud to announce Teckels Animal Sanctuaries as our official charity partner for the 2026 World Animal Day Donate a Dinner campaign. To launch the partnership, Naturewatch Foundation CEO Sarah Carr and colleagues visited the Gloucestershire-based sanctuary to present a £100 donation — enough to provide a meal for each of the 42 resident dogs currently waiting for loving homes.

Small acts of kindness add up

Since launching Donate a Dinner, we’ve donated enough meals to feed every resident at Cheltenham Animal Shelter in our first year, followed by 100 dinners for Vale Wildlife Hospital to mark World Animal Day’s centenary in 2025. This year, we’re inviting animal lovers, community groups and businesses to join forces and make an even bigger difference. When each of us gives just one dinner, together we can feed hundreds.
