It was an early start heading down to DOTS HQ to meet Michelle, the founder of DOTS, and to see just how much aid had been loaded on to the van to take with us.
It didn’t start well with me pulling up to the M6 toll, forgetting my card and having to block a lane to give details at the booth – embarrassing!
On arrival at DOTS HQ, it was like Michelle and I had known each other for years. Reality was a 10-day relationship by WhatsApp, but we already knew we’d achieved so much for animal welfare in 10 days by bringing together two compassionate UK animal charities. We set off for Dover, overcame the drama with P&O cancelling all sailings and got through customs. We were free in Europe and had a job to do.
