Animals Need Love too!
Well, the big day is nearly here! At Naturewatch HQ, the halls are decked and the whole team is well and truly in the festive spirit.
But, there’s one thing that won’t be under the tree again this year: the Kept Animals Bill.
As another year draws to a close
You may remember, we’ve been working with our animal welfare friends throughout the year to urge the Government to make time for Parliament to pass this vital law, which would introduce a raft of new protections for animals. Things like putting a stop to puppy smuggling, ending the import of dogs with cropped ears, and banning live exports of farmed animals for slaughter and fattening.
All important measures, which makes it hard to believe the Bill was introduced way back in June 2021. And it’s still not on the statute book.
What we are doing
So, once again, we’ve joined forces with animal charities and NGOs across the country to urge the Government to get on with it and pass the Kept Animals Bill. Read the letter we’ve sent, along with 31 other organisations, including Animal Aid, Humane Society International UK, OneKind, the RSPCA and many others.
We’ve also asked the Government to show animals some Love Actually, this Christmas. Watch the Christmas-classic inspired video here, which has been brilliantly put together by our friends at FOUR PAWS UK.
