Compassionate Shopping Guide
We’ve been helping ethical shoppers live their values and choose cruelty-free for over 30 years.
We can all make a difference to animal welfare by choosing to buy from compassionate, cruelty free companies, but it’s often challenging to know exactly what’s in our shopping basket.
That’s where our Compassionate Shopping Guide comes in. It’s full of fantastic cruelty-free personal care and household brands that have zero ties to animal testing.
It’s the definitive guide to cruelty-free shopping and we’ve been helping consumers navigate the maze of claims and confusing legislation for over three decades.
When you buy from brands in our guide, you can be confident your cash isn’t supporting animal testing in any way.

The story so far…
How far we've come…
-
1998 – UK cosmetic animal testing ban.
-
2013 – EU cosmetic animal testing ban.
-
2015 – UK Household product animal testing ban – we’re continuing our campaign for this to apply to ingredients.
Next steps…
-
Continue to champion companies that have good animal testing policies and put pressure on companies that don’t.
-
Encourage more household product types to embrace cruelty-free so we can all enjoy a completely cruelty-free household.
-
To bring more brands into the Compassionate Shopping Guide and persuade others to end animal testing.
We’re guiding companies too
The Compassionate Shopping Guide is a great way to find all your cruelty-free products in one place, but it’s also a way to encourage other companies to come on board.
Our team contacts hundreds of personal care and household brands to make sure:
- They have a fixed cut-off date for animal testing.
- They are not owned by another company (or are part of a subsidiary) that tests on animals.
- They don’t sell their products in markets where animal testing is still mandatory.
The guide shows that lots of companies are doing the right thing and that there’s a serious, growing market for compassionate shopping.

How you can help
You can also help by spreading the word to the brands you love. Remember, there’s no cost for your brands to appear in the guide, so if they’re not in it already, why not invite them to join?
Of course, we can’t campaign against animal testing without your support. We’re working hard to end the needless suffering of mice, rabbits, dogs, cats and many other animals.
