On 11th March 2013 the EU Cosmetics Testing Ban came into force, officially recognising that animals shouldn’t be suffering for the sake of human vanity.   The EU ban means that any company wishing to sell NEW cosmetic products within the European Union must ensure that none of the ingredients, or finished products, have been tested on animals anywhere in the world. The ban affects all cosmetics including toiletries and beauty products from soap to toothpaste.

Although this is a wonderful step forward, we now have to convince the rest of the world to follow suit!  Meanwhile, L'Oréal, and other multi-national companies are able to continue using animal testing to develop new products to sell outside Europe.  Most importantly, profits from the sale of products within the EU manufactured by these companies can still be used to fund animal testing elsewhere in the world!
