29 October 2026
Earlier this year, we awarded our Pet Rescue Grant 2026 to three incredible small charities: One Wish Dog Foundation, Tiny Paws MCR and The Neuter Project. The grant exists to support the rescue and rehabilitation of dogs, cats and rabbits affected by the UK’s low-welfare and illegal pet trade.
Thanks to your support, dozens of vulnerable animals have received life-changing care this year. Read on to meet some of the animals whose lives you have helped transform.
Tally, Ruby, Bonnie and Charlie benefit from a £6,000 grant to One Wish Dog Foundation
When we read One Wish Dog Foundation’s grant application, we knew we wanted to support them. Although newly established and entirely volunteer-led, their dedication to helping some of the most vulnerable dogs in their community stood out immediately.
Their £6,000 grant has helped support Tally, an American Bulldog with a huge heart, and three Cockapoos: Bonnie, Ruby and Charlie.
Tally (pictured when she first entered One Wish’s care) was discovered by police in a squalid drug den. She was suffering from mange, severely underweight and had clearly been used repeatedly for breeding.
Thanks to the Pet Rescue Grant, Tally has now been spayed, ensuring she will never be forced to breed again. She also underwent investigations into a suspected cruciate ligament injury. Sadly, these revealed ruptures in both rear legs. Given the significant cost of surgery, One Wish Dog Foundation has continued fundraising and will use part of the grant towards her first operation later this year.
Bonnie, Ruby and Charlie (pictured now) were found abandoned, with indications they had come from a local puppy farm. All three arrived fearful and lacking confidence. Through the patience and dedication of their foster carers, they have made remarkable progress.
The grant has helped provide vaccinations, microchipping, dental treatment, flea and worming treatment, and will also cover their future spay and neutering procedures when they are ready.
Best of all, Ruby and Charlie have found their loving homes, while Bonnie is set to be formally adopted by her foster carer soon. One Wish is dedicated to also finding Tally a perfect home to recover in after her surgery.
Jenna Jones, founder of One Wish Dog Foundation, had this special message for Naturewatch Foundation’s supporters:
To everyone who supports Naturewatch Foundation, thank you.
Thanks to your generosity, four vulnerable dogs have received life-changing care. Your support has helped provide veterinary treatment, rehabilitation and a pathway to a brighter future for dogs who had experienced neglect, abandonment and exploitation.
Ruby and Charlie are now living happily in permanent homes with the foster carers who helped them recover. Bonnie is close to achieving the same outcome, and Tally is continuing her journey towards recovery with specialist surgery planned.
The impact of your support can be seen every day in these dogs’ lives. On behalf of Bonnie, Ruby, Charlie, Tally and everyone at One Wish Dog Foundation, thank you for believing that every dog deserves a second chance.
Tiny Paws MCR help eight rabbits in need with £4,000 grant
Thanks to your generosity, Manchester-based charity, Tiny Paws MCR, has been able to provide life-changing veterinary care and support to eight rabbits arriving at their sanctuary. As a fully volunteer-run rescue, every penny of their grant has gone directly towards helping rabbits in need.
Following their move to a new Rabbit Refuge in 2025, Tiny Paws has been able to care for more rabbits than ever before. Their grant has helped cover essential veterinary treatment, including vaccinations, diagnostic testing, medication, imaging, spaying procedures and microchipping, giving vulnerable rabbits the best possible chance of recovery and a happy future.
Among the rabbits whose lives have been transformed are:
- Snowy, who arrived with health concerns but recovered fully and has now found a loving forever home.
- Ruby, who received testing, treatment and ongoing monitoring for Encephalitozoon cuniculi (EC) and is now ready to find a home of her own.
- Magpie, an elderly stray rabbit with severe arthritis, received ongoing medication.
- Fern (pictured), who underwent extensive investigations after becoming unwell and has made a wonderful recovery.
- Blossom, Meadow and Rupert, all benefited from the safe haven and veterinary support provided by the rescue.
Sadly, not every story has a happy ending. Tiny Paws MCR also used part of the grant to care for Baby Chino (pictured below), a tiny, abandoned rabbit found alone in woodland. Despite intensive veterinary treatment and round-the-clock care, he sadly passed away. While his life was heartbreakingly short, he spent his final days safe, warm and surrounded by compassion.
Amy Blair, trustee of Tiny Paw MCR said:
Thank you to Naturewatch Foundation supporters for making a difference to rabbits in need.
Thanks to your generosity, Tiny Paws MCR has been able to provide vital veterinary care to eight vulnerable rabbits since April, including vaccinations, diagnostic testing, medication, ultrasounds, neutering and microchipping.
Your support has helped rabbits like Snowy find a loving forever home, given sanctuary rabbit Magpie the pain relief he needs to enjoy his golden years and enabled rabbits like Ruby and Fern to receive specialist investigations and treatment. It has even allowed us to provide compassionate end-of-life care to Baby Chino, ensuring he was safe, warm and loved during his final days.
At a time when rabbit rescues across the UK are facing unprecedented demand, your kindness is helping rabbits recover, thrive and get the second chance they deserve. On behalf of every rabbit you have helped, thank you.
The Neuter Project use £1,000 mini-grant to spay and neuter 20 rescue dogs and cats
Based at The Retreat Animal Rescue in Kent, The Neuter Project is run by volunteer vets and veterinary nurses who provide free neutering services to local rescue organisations. Their work helps prevent unwanted litters and reduces the risk of accidental breeding.
In April, their £1,000 mini-grant covered all neutering procedures carried out during the month. As a result, seven dogs and 13 cats were spayed or neutered, while also receiving microchipping and parasite treatments.
Since it was established, The Neuter Project has helped 1,896 animals, supporting more than 50 rescue organisations and fosterers.
Founding vet, Angie Hamp (pictured with fellow volunteers), said, “As a non-profit, we can’t apply for many grants/help and your grant really made a big impact on our running. I am so grateful for this and for your support.”
Thank you from Naturewatch Foundation
Thanks to you, the Pet Rescue Grant 2026 has supported three fantastic small rescue charities and helped 32 deserving dogs, cats and rabbits receive the care they needed.
Every vaccination, operation, health check and second chance has only been possible because of your support.
