Campaigns and Marketing Assistant

Full-time, entry level, permanent position – 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

  • Location: Cheltenham, with some remote working
  • Salary: Between £18K and £20K pa, depending on skills and experience.

Summary of role

Are you a Marketing or Communications graduate looking for an exciting entry-level role to kick start your career? Do you have an interest in animals? This is a new and fantastic opportunity for candidates skilled in communications and marketing to join an animal welfare charity based in Cheltenham. You’ll assist in delivering marketing and communications projects for multiple animal welfare campaigns (including initiatives such as World Animal Day) and help in organising public events for the charity.

To be considered, we’ll be looking for motivated candidates with a relevant background, a marketing (or related) degree or relevant experience. The successful candidate would need to be organised, with a sharp eye for detail, able to deliver projects on time, whilst working as part of a team. You’ll need great communications skills, and strong Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe (InDesign, Photoshop) as well as a good understanding of how to use social media platforms effectively.

Essential skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of creative marketing and communications techniques
  • Experience with using social media platforms
  • Competent with Microsoft Office software
  • Competent with Adobe software such as InDesign and Photoshop
  • Good time management skills with the ability to plan, prioritise workloads, work quickly and accurately under pressure and to deadlines
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team, and interact with colleagues in a helpful and supportive manner
  • Hard working, motivated and with a can-do attitude
  • Happy to work in our Cheltenham office three days a week, and work remotely, plus willingness to attend meetings elsewhere as necessary
  • Happy to handle sensitive, sometimes distressing information regarding animal welfare
  • Commitment to the objectives of the charity
  • Agreeable to: attend local, national and possibly international events occasionally and carry out any other reasonable tasks asked of you
Desirable skills:
  • Knowledge of campaigning and lobbying techniques
  • Research experience
  • Web design skills
  • Experience with small events
  • Willing to network
  • Creative copywriting experience
  • Understanding of animal welfare issues
  • Start date July 2022
