Our origins into natural skin care products
Our story began in 2015 when we started marketing natural skin care products for Harrogate Sulphur Soap (which is my brother in laws’ company) online. This company has been successful for many years!
These sulphur-based products have been formulated to care for all skin and all ages, but are especially suitable for people with skin prone to many skin conditions like acne, eczema, psoriasis and rosacea.
We were quite surprised at how popular these sulphur cream products were and not really knowing much about sulphur and what it can do, I began researching the uses and benefits of sulphur cream for the skin, which actually dates back to the Roman Times with sulphur heavily used to create sulphur cream for eczema and other skin ailments. The more I researched, the more I found out about the different skin conditions people had to suffer with and how there was a real need for natural acne treatment cream and other natural skin care products.
I started learning about other natural ingredients, apart from sulphur, that could help and benefit people who have these conditions and other skin problems, without them having to resort to taking prescribed drugs, like antibiotics or using steroid creams for their particular skin conditions, but not always getting any results from doing this. Neither of these treatments are really good for you or your body and after a while of constant use, may stop having any real effect. Frustrated and not really knowing what else to do, people have had to just get on with it and use whatever they are advised!
We felt the need to create our own brand of sulphur cream and other natural skin care products. (Hence our original business name – Sulphur Skin Care).
I wanted to create a natural skin care product completely free of any parabens, SLSs or other harmful chemicals.
I looked to see what other sulphur products were on the market and identified a need for a natural moisturising sulphur cream, as I was now convinced that sulphur was one of the best natural ingredients for effective skin care.
After many weeks of selecting which natural ingredients I was going to use, including pure essential oils which would add their own benefits for these problems, experimenting with many different formulations and finally reaching a product that I was happy with, I sent the product off for testing. This took several months of waiting and hoping it would be passed.
As soon as the finished product had passed all relevant testing, I happily launched my own new natural skin care product.
Although it seemed quite slow at first, I could see that there was a lot of interest in it.
As time went on, it started to gain momentum. I then started to receive testimonials from customers who were using it. Some of them said our natural skin products work far better than any prescribed drugs or creams they had used. Others said they have tried so many different lotions and potions over the years which haven’t worked, until now!
This Natural Moisturising Sulphur Cream is now literally flying off the shelf, with many regular customers!!
Since the success of the Natural Moisturising Sulphur Cream, we have introduced a Natural Tea Tree Shampoo, two Natural Shower Gels – Lime & Lemongrass or Lavender, a range of Natural Himalayan Bath Salts and Natural Himalayan Feet Treats.
We have also re-branded with the aim to exclusively sell vegan friendly, natural, cruelty free cosmetics!
I think it is very important nowadays to use natural ingredients in our skin care products, as research is proving that a lot of chemicals that go into many cosmetics and skin, hair & body products can cause us harm. It is so frustrating that so many leading brands still contain these chemicals in their products. The customer doesn’t really know what they are buying.
People are becoming more health conscious now from the food they eat to the products they use on their skin and are looking for more natural, healthy options.
Even more people are becoming vegetarian or vegan, so it is also important to make skin products that contain no animal derived ingredients and have not been tested on animals.
I make sure that all the ingredients used in our products have not been tested on animals and are not animal derived.
