Yesterday marked our Purple Paw Parliamentary event. The event itself was well attended, and it was encouraging to see such strong cross-party support. We were delighted to welcome Alex Davies-Jones MP, Minister for Violence Against Women and Girls, alongside MPs from four political parties and members of the House of Lords.
We also saw representation from across the UK, including Wales, Northern Ireland, and both the North and South of England. This shows that this issue is being recognised nationally, not just locally.
During the event, we also formally launched Purple Paw and our Act to Protect framework. At the heart of both is the idea that the bond between people and animals is worth protecting, and that harm to animals is often linked to wider patterns of abuse.
Through Act to Protect, we set out practical steps towards stronger safeguarding, early intervention, and better collaboration between those working to protect both people and animals.
It was also fantastic to have our patron, Wendy Turner Webster, with us.
Events like this bring people together, build understanding, and create momentum. As always, this progress wouldn’t be possible without your support.
