Naturewatch’s education programme to teach children in schools and universities across the whole of Ukraine about responsible pet ownership has been launched!
The first teacher training seminar was attended by teachers representing 25 Lutsk Primary Schools with the support of the Lutsk Authority Education Department.
The seminar covered the following topics:
- Humane education and animal welfare education in Primary Schools
- What is animal welfare?
- Moral status of animals
- How to connect animal welfare to Environmental Sciences
- Introduction to teacher educational material
- RSPCA Education DVD “Animals and Us”, projected with Ukrainian subtitles.
All teachers left the seminar fully equipped with two books on educational material and fresh knowledge; empowering them to begin teaching classrooms of children across Lutsk about animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.
Teaching the next generation of dog owners will safeguard the sustainability of our work to humanely reduce stray dog numbers in Ukraine.
