On the 24th of January 2024, which is Change a Pet’s Life Day, applications will open for our first ever Pet Rescue Grant!
We’re excited to be launching this brand new fund, which is specifically for frontline animal welfare projects that help dogs, cats or rabbits impacted by illegal breeding or selling.
Every year, at least £5,000 will be available that registered UK non-profits can apply for to help the animal victims of the pet trade.
It can be used for things like veterinary care, behavioural support, specialist equipment or expert training for personnel. Basically, the things that will help give animals who have been exploited for profit their second chance.
Why have we launched a new animal welfare grant?
We all want to see an end to the illegal pet trade, and campaigning and investigating is what we do at Naturewatch Foundation to try to make that a reality. But we also want to give back to those selfless people and organisations who see the misery caused by illegal breeding and selling first- hand. Rescue and rehabilitation work is expensive, and without non-profit rescue organisations many animal victims of the illegal pet trade simply wouldn’t have any hope of a better life.
The Pet Rescue Grant is our small way of helping those on the frontline give more animals the loving care and support they deserve.
How can I get involved?
If you know about a fantastic rescue organisation that goes above and beyond to help dogs, cats and rabbits impacted by illegal breeding and selling, there’s two ways you can help let them know about the grant:
1. Nominate them and we’ll send them all the details about the grant and how to apply. Simply complete this short form.
2. Send them one of our Pet Rescue Grant postcards, which contains all of the key info. Email us at info@naturewatch.org to request your copies.
Other ways to get involved will be announced in 2024 – and we have some exciting plans!
What happens next?
Organisations can submit applications for the Pet Rescue Grant between 24th January – 21st February 2024. Once applications close, we’ll begin the difficult process of deciding which worthy projects to fund. The recipient/s of the grant will be notified in April and we’ll keep you updated about who has been successful. It’s only thanks to the generosity of Naturewatch Foundation supporters that we can make this animal welfare grant available, so we’ll be sure to keep you updated about the progress of the projects that YOU have helped make a reality.
