You may have heard the news that on Monday 5th December, there will be a debate in Parliament about the Kept Animals Bill following tireless campaigning by some of our animal welfare friends.
We need your help to ensure as many MPs as possible attend the debate and speak up for animals.

Why is the Kept Animals Bill important?
We need the Kept Animals Bill to become law because it would introduce vital new protections for animals. It would end live exports for slaughter and fattening. Stop people keeping primates as pets. And tackle the scourge of puppy smuggling once and for all. It would also criminalise pet theft and introduce measures to tackle avoidable dog attacks on farmed animals (aka ‘livestock worrying’).
We’re sure you’ll agree, these are no-brainer policies. Uncontroversial even. But the Government has been dragging its feet for months and the Bill has stalled. This is despite other potentially regressive Bills – such as those that would permit gene editing of animals and would jeopardise many EU-derived animal laws – enjoying rapid progress through Parliament.
Let’s make sure the Government knows we all want the Kept Animals Bill to become law
We’d much rather the Government announce a date for the Kept Animals Bill to progress. But the debate on Monday 5th December provides the next best opportunity for MPs to speak up for animals and call for the rapid passage of the Bill.
